What you see in the app

One screen for each job PillPerch does.

  • Wrong-day slipOn Wednesday morning, Dad opens Thursday's compartment by mistake. The base chimes and shows that Wednesday's is still full.

  • Late doseDad's morning dose is marked time-critical. With no change on the tray 30 minutes into its window, the care agency gets an early alert.

  • As-needed boxDad takes two paracetamol from the weighed bay at 10:40. Opening it again at 13:15 gives a soft chime and the next time.

  • Fill checkOn Sunday, Sam fills the box for the week. The camera counts the pills in each compartment against the plan.

App screens with sample data. The interface is in development.

    Lab updates for PillPerch

    All lab updates
    1. LatestOne product for an older parent's bedside (owner decision, 27 Oct 2026).
      • Its jobs now run in BedsideOne, the smart bedside table: /products/bedsideone/

See it in 3DFull research and design

    2. Families looking after an older parent at a distance often face three worries at once: were the pills taken, how long will the backup oxygen last in a power cut, and is the parent still walking safely, especially on night toilet trips. Today that means a pill dispenser subscription (Hero $29.99-44.99 a month, herohealth.com), a medical alert ($25-29 a month, AARP 2026) and nothing for oxygen or walking; our own three products for it cost $447 and $14 a month with three apps.
      • Combined into ParentHome (https://iemilabs.com/products/parenthome/); PillPerch itself is unchanged

See it in 3DFull research and design

    3. Home carers need to know when 'when required' medicines like paracetamol were last taken between visits, and time-sensitive medicines such as Parkinson's tablets are late when visits run late. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) names both in its home-care medicines guidance, and its inspections found paracetamol doses not recorded and pain relief given inside four hours.
      • New CAD part: PRN cup that holds a paracetamol-size box on edge, with a post down to its own load cell; 3 of 3 fit checks pass
      • Changed CAD parts: base case gets a second load-cell pillar, screws and overload stop, and the lid a new post hole; 4 of 4 new fit checks pass and no printed parts touch
      • Hardware: a 780 g bar load cell and a second HX711; parts cost up $14 to about $118 (est.), target price $129
      • Software: 'next from' clock and daily count for 'when required' doses, early alerts for time-critical slots, and a carer visit view
      • Design doc: dated section with 5 sources and new tests; product page summary, highlights, use cases, specs and FAQs updated

See it in 3DFull research and design

    4. People forget whether they took today's dose (caregiver forums) -> TAKEN? button shows 'Mon AM taken 08:12' on e-paper
      • New design: 5 printed parts in code CAD, bought parts fit-checked
      • Market research, hardware list and use case written up
      • Design page and kit render published
      • Product page added

    PillPerch FAQ

    General FAQ
    Is PillPerch available?

No. PillPerch is a concept in the in-house design and testing stage. It has not been built or tested with real organisers, and it has no ship date yet.

Does it know if the pill was swallowed?

No. It sees a compartment emptied, not a pill swallowed. It never identifies a drug and never tells anyone to take, skip or change a dose; those decisions stay with the prescriber and pharmacist.

Does it stop someone taking paracetamol too soon?

No. It shows when the last dose left the box and when the next is allowed, and chimes if the box is opened early, but it never locks. The gap and daily count are entered from the label and care plan, and the decision stays with the person, carer and prescriber.

Does it replace the agency's medicines record?

No. The agency's record stays the official one. The visit view and daily log help the carer fill it in with times they did not see.

Will it work with our pill box?

It is designed for any 7-day organiser with one or two rows, up to 291 × 117 mm. Deep boxes can hide pills against the outer walls, so those compartments are flagged 'partly hidden' rather than counted; shallower boxes work best.

    Where do the photos go?

Photos stay on the device. Only the weekly fill photo is sent, to the family account, if you opt in, and it can be deleted.
