What it is

A slim video doorbell that detects people and parcels on the device and records locally.

What it does

  • Alerts when people come to the door
  • Spots parcels left and taken
  • Records clips to microSD
  • Lets you talk to visitors

Who it's for

Homeowners and renters who want doorbell alerts without a subscription.

The idea

One door station answers a clinic's locked front door on every staff phone, and only the indoor relay opens the strike

The problem today

In a small clinic or office with a locked or buzz-in door, whoever is nearest walks to the door about 20 times a day. Home doorbells ring one phone and cannot release a strike, and business intercoms need a SIP server, an installer and a monthly fee per door.

With EdgeBell AI

The station by the door rings the front-desk tablet and every staff phone at once with live video. The first person to answer talks to the visitor and taps Release; a signed command goes to the relay module inside, which opens the strike for 5 seconds. Video stays on the station's card, and only the event leaves the site.

  3. 3Front-desk tabletShows the live door video in a browser on the clinic network, answers and releases, and lists today's visitor log
  4. 4Staff phone in a treatment roomRings with video when the desk is empty; the first to answer talks and releases, and the app logs who answered and how fast

  • Door releaseSam talks to the visitor and taps Release. The indoor relay opens the strike for 4 seconds and the visit goes into the log.

  • After-hours visitorAt night, when the office is closed, someone stands at the door for over a minute. A clip goes to the microSD card and the manager is told.

App screens with sample data. The interface is in development.

    Lab updates for EdgeBell AI

    All lab updates
    1. LatestA 3 to 25 person clinic or office with a locked front door needs the door answered and released from any staff phone; staff walk to the door about 20 times a day (about 125 hours a year, est.), and cloud intercoms start near $3,995 plus about $20 a door a month (sources in DESIGN.md).
      • Drawn idea plan (idea.json): a small dental clinic from above with the street, the locked front door, the waiting room, the front desk and the treatment rooms; pins for the door station, the relay module above the door, the desk tablet and a staff phone in a treatment room
      • The product picture is now this drawn plan instead of the plain fallback card; drawn from the rev A design notes, not the CAD
      • What we kept from the market work: sold to small businesses, not homes, where no-fee doorbells are a giveaway market; video stays on site and no SIP server is needed
      • Next: a drawn plan for the Edge Hub lot counter, then more catalogue products on the fallback card

See it in 3DFull research and design

    2. Families want to know when the garage door is left open at night (police in Apple Valley MN and Papillion NE keep asking residents to check), who is at the side door, and whether the water heater is leaking. Today that is a myQ hub ($30-50), a video doorbell (myQ list $99.99) and a leak sensor, or our own GarageEye AI, EdgeBell AI and TankWatch kit at $217 together, with three apps.
      • Combined into GarageHome (https://iemilabs.com/products/garagehome/); EdgeBell AI itself is unchanged

See it in 3DFull research and design

    3. Owner decision (27 Oct 2026): merge our single-job products into multi-job devices.

    EdgeBell AI FAQ

    General FAQ
Where is my video stored, and does it recognise faces?

Clips are stored on the doorbell's microSD card. Only events and thumbnails go to the app unless you choose optional cloud backup. EdgeBell detects people and parcels but does not use facial recognition or identify anyone. Check local rules before recording beyond your own property.

    Is EdgeBell certified?

Not yet. FCC and CE RED radio testing and IP65 weather testing are planned, not completed. Matter camera support depends on the Matter standard and certification.

    How is it installed?

Fix the wall plate, connect your existing 16–24 VAC doorbell wires or run it on battery, and clip the doorbell on. Most installs take about 20 minutes. If you are unsure about doorbell wiring, use a qualified electrician.

    What connectivity does it need?

Home 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi with good signal at the front door. Bluetooth is used for setup. Matter support is planned when the camera device type is available.

    Is EdgeBell AI available now?

No. It is a new concept in development. Specifications are target specifications. It is a concept: we are not taking orders, reservations or deposits, and it has no ship date yet.

What warranty will it come with?

We are planning a 2-year limited hardware warranty covering manufacturing defects. Final terms will be published before shipping begins.
