What it is

A small disc that listens for your existing smoke and CO alarms and alerts your family.

What it does

  • Hears smoke and CO alarm beeps
  • Sends app alerts to family
  • Texts and calls until acknowledged
  • Keeps working over optional LTE-M

Who it's for

Families of older people, homeowners away from home, landlords and hosts.

The idea

A small disc beside each alarm a rental unit already has tells the landlord the day it starts to chirp

The problem today

A smoke alarm with a low battery chirps about once a minute, often at night. The tenant calls after hours or pulls the battery, and the landlord only hears about it then. Alarm listeners from the big brands need the tenant's Wi-Fi, which a landlord does not control.

With AlarmEcho

A battery disc sits next to each existing alarm and listens only for that alarm's own sound. The unit's own small hub sends each chirp, alarm or test over the mobile network to the landlord's dashboard, so the battery is swapped at a planned visit and every test is in the log. The listed alarm stays the safety device.

  2. 2Disc beside the bedroom 1 alarmSame listening for the bedroom alarm, so a chirp says which room needs the battery
  3. 3Disc beside the bedroom 2 alarmSame again; each disc runs about two years on two AA cells and reports its health every day
  4. 4Echo Link hub in a living-room outletHears every disc in the unit and sends each event over the mobile network, with no tenant Wi-Fi; keeps going for days in a power cut

What you see in the app

One screen for each job AlarmEcho does.

  • Alarm heardAt 2 a.m. the hallway smoke alarm at Mum's house starts its three-beep pattern. The disc beside it hears it and the family phones ring.

  • Low-battery chirpIn a rental flat, a smoke alarm has started its low-battery chirp. The landlord gets a work order before the tenant has to call.

  • Weekly testEach Sunday someone presses the alarm's own test button. Each disc reports whether it heard it, so every listener is known to work.

  • Link powerA storm cuts the power and the home Wi-Fi. The Link hub keeps listening on its own cell and sends alerts over LTE-M.

App screens with sample data. The interface is in development.

    Lab updates for AlarmEcho

    All lab updates
    1. LatestA landlord with 10 to 500 rental doors needs to hear about a low-battery chirp the day it starts, before the tenant calls after hours or pulls the battery; Kidde's survey found 7% would rather disconnect the battery than replace it (sources in DESIGN.md).
      • Drawn idea plan (idea.json): a two-bedroom rental unit from above with the hallway, both bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and living room; one numbered pin per disc beside each existing alarm and one for the Echo Link hub in a living-room outlet
      • The product picture is now this drawn plan instead of the plain fallback card; drawn from the rev A design notes, not the CAD
      • What we kept from the market work: the listed alarm stays the safety device; AlarmEcho is a notifier and a maintenance log
      • Next: drawn plans for more catalogue products that still show the fallback card

    2. Owner decision (27 Oct 2026): merge our single-job products into multi-job devices.

    AlarmEcho FAQ

    General FAQ
Does AlarmEcho record or upload audio?

No. Sound is analysed on the device only to recognise alarm beep patterns. Audio is never recorded, stored or sent. Only events such as 'smoke alarm heard' and device status go to the app.

Is AlarmEcho a certified smoke or CO alarm?

No. AlarmEcho is not a smoke alarm or a CO alarm and is not listed to UL 217 or UL 2034. It is an extra notifier that only works alongside working, listed alarms, which you must keep installed and tested. It is not a monitored emergency service and does not call emergency services. FCC/CE testing is planned, not completed.

    How is it installed?

Mount the plate on a wall or ceiling within a few metres of an existing alarm, clip on the disc, power it by USB-C or battery, then press your alarm's test button to confirm AlarmEcho hears it. No wiring is needed.

    What connectivity does it need?

Home 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for app alerts. An optional LTE-M module sends alerts over the mobile network when Wi-Fi is down. Matter over Wi-Fi or Thread is planned.

    Is AlarmEcho available now?

No. It is a new concept in development. Specifications are target specifications. It is a concept: we are not taking orders, reservations or deposits, and it has no ship date yet.

What warranty will it come with?

We are planning a 2-year limited hardware warranty covering manufacturing defects. Final terms will be published before shipping begins.
