What it is

A wall hub with one brain that does three water and damp jobs around the kitchen sink.

What it does

  • Counts RO drinking water and says when filters are due
  • Alerts when water reaches the sink-cabinet floor
  • Shows mould risk at the damp wall and runs a dehumidifier or fan

Who it's for

Families with an RO purifier in damp monsoon cities, through their RO service dealer.

The idea

One wall hub by the kitchen RO purifier tracks the filters, catches a leak in the sink cabinet and warns of a damp wall

The problem today

In a monsoon city the RO purifier, the sink cabinet below it and the wall behind it are where a family's water problems start. Filters are changed when the water tastes wrong, a leak from a loose housing soaks the cabinet floor for days before anyone opens the door, and a damp wall is found only when the mould shows.

With DampHome

One small hub on the wall runs from the purifier's own adapter and does all three jobs. It counts litres and filter days, chirps and sends a phone alert the minute the cabinet floor gets wet, and reads the humidity right at the wall so a fan or dehumidifier comes on before mould starts. The RO dealer who already visits gets the due list.

  2. 2Flow sensor on the purifier's tap lineCounts every litre poured, so each filter's days left is real use, not a guess; the RO dealer gets a due list before the visit
  3. 3Leak foot on the sink cabinet floorTwo steel contacts just above the floor; the first water from a loose housing or worn seal sets off the chirp and a phone alert
  4. 4Wall tag on the damp wallReads the air and the wall's own surface, works out the humidity at the wall, and switches a fan or dehumidifier plug before mould starts

What you see in the app

One screen for each job DampHome does.

  • Leak under sinkAt 21:14 the drain pipe under the kitchen sink starts to drip. The leak foot gets wet, the hub chirps, and the family's phones buzz.

  • Filters dueThe family drinks from the RO purifier every day. The hub counts the litres and shows when each filter is really due.

  • Damp wallIn the monsoon, the wall behind the sink cabinet stays cool and damp. The wall tag works out the humidity at the surface, where mould starts.

App screens with sample data. The interface is in development.

    Lab updates for DampHome

    All lab updates
    1. LatestA family with an RO purifier in a damp monsoon city needs to know when filters are really due, to hear about a sink-cabinet leak the day it starts, and to catch a damp wall before mould shows; leaks are among the top RO service calls and leak sensors alone cost about Rs 700 to 2,800 each (sources in DESIGN.md).
      • Drawn idea plan (idea.json): an Indian home kitchen from above with the counter, the sink and its cabinet, the RO purifier on the wall and the gas stove; pins for the hub beside the purifier, the flow sensor on the tap line, the leak foot on the cabinet floor and the wall tag on the damp wall
      • The product picture is now this drawn plan instead of the plain fallback card; drawn from the rev A design notes, not the CAD
      • What we kept from the market work: it is sold and fitted through the RO service dealer who already visits, and it is a monitor-and-alert aid only
      • Next: drawn plans for more catalogue products that still show the fallback card

See it in 3DFull research and design

    2. In monsoon cities RO purifier leaks are among the most common service calls (RO Care India), and walls stay damp and grow mould unseen (Housing.com, The Better India). Families pay for a leak sensor, a hygrometer and a calendar service plan, with three apps or none.
      • New product DampHome: one ESP32-C6 brain, one Wi-Fi and BLE radio, one supply from the purifier and one app do the jobs of PureTrack, WaterLeak AI (home sensor) and MouldGuard (wall sensor)
      • New CAD parts: a wall hub (base and lid, with room for 2 AA backup cells and 5 leads), a wall bracket and a floor leak foot; PureTrack's flow saddle and tube clip and MouldGuard's wall tag reused; every bought part fits and each part is one solid
      • 3D view: an Indian kitchen sink corner with the hub beside the RO purifier, the flow sensor on the tap line, the wall tag on the cabinet wall and the leak foot on the cabinet floor
      • Dropped: MouldGuard's weighing board and survey kit, WaterLeak's building riser node, valve and gateway, and the geyser probes, which belong in other rooms or buildings
      • Product page: $109 per home, against $277 for the three products bought separately; parts about $41 (est.)

    DampHome FAQ

    General FAQ
    Which products does DampHome replace?

It does the job of PureTrack (RO litres, pump hours and filters due), WaterLeak AI's home sensor (water on the floor) and MouldGuard's wall sensor (humidity at the wall surface, dehumidifier on a plug). Those three cost $277 together; DampHome is $109.

Does it stop a leak or shut off the water?

No. It alerts only: a chirp in the kitchen, then a push and SMS to the family and the dealer. It has no valve.

Does it test whether my water is safe?

No. It counts litres and pump time to say when filters are due. An optional output TDS probe shows a trend, not a safety test.

    Will it stop mould?

It shows when the wall is at mould risk and can run a dehumidifier or fan. It cannot fix seepage; when the wall stays wet it says the wall needs a waterproofing check.

What if we switch the purifier off at the wall?

Two AA cells keep the leak and damp jobs running, and the app says the purifier is off.

    Is DampHome available now?

No. It is a concept in design. Specifications are targets. We are not taking orders, reservations or deposits, and it has no ship date yet.
