All connected
7 key parts, one program, and your phone
What it is
A solar pole head with a camera, strobe and siren, plus a bell for the house.
What it does
Who it's for
Smallholders near forest or nilgai country, and the FPOs and schemes that help them.
The idea
The problem today
Smallholders next to forest or scrub lose crops to wild boar, nilgai and deer at night, so someone guards the field all night. Timer solar flashers blink all night until the animals learn them, and the desperate fix, a live-wire fence, kills elephants and lands farmers in court.
With RaidPost
A RaidPost on the pole in each gap wakes when a warm body crosses, names the animal on the post and runs a different light and siren pattern each time. The RaidBell in the house rings only for a crop animal, a person is never sirened, and a post out on the forest edge gives early warning of elephants with lights only.
How the parts connect
Every part, what links it to the brain, and how the data reaches your phone. A solid line is a cable; a dashed line is a radio link.
The program
for (;;) {
light_sleep_until(pir_front || pir_left || pir_right);
ir_leds(true);
cls = classify_3_frames(camera, 8000); // int8 model
ir_leds(false);
pat = pick_pattern_not_in_last(3);
beacon_run(pat, cls); // MOSFET board, 12 V
if (siren_allowed(cls)) // never for people or elephants
siren_after(random(0, 4000));
lora_send(msg_10b(cls, conf, pat, batt_mv())); // UART to RAK3272S
delay(60000); // cooldown

One screen for each job RaidPost does.
Crop raidAt 2 am two wild boar push through the east gap of a maize field. The post fires lights and siren, and the bell rings in the house.
Elephant warningAn elephant comes out of the forest 800 metres from the village. The edge post flashes lights only and gives the family minutes of warning.
Morning gap listOver morning tea the farmer sees which gaps were hit last night, so he can fix the fence or move a post.
App screens with sample data. The interface is in development.
| Animal class | Wild boar, 91% | Each event |
|---|---|---|
| Animal count | 3 animals | Each event |
| Response used | Pattern 4, siren on | Each event |
| Post battery | 3.2 V | Hourly |
| Morning gap list | East gap hit twice | Daily |
Images never leave the post; the bell gets only the animal class. People are never tracked or named.

From the product lab · ideation phase
No. RaidPost is a concept in the in-house design and testing stage. The CAD design is complete, but it has not been built or tested in a field, and all specifications are targets.
We cannot promise that. Firing only on detection with a random pattern is meant to slow habituation, but that is a hypothesis until our 8-week trial against a timer flasher is done.
No. RaidPost uses light and sound only and never touches a fence or mains. The siren never fires for a person or an elephant.
One per trail or gap, usually 2–4 per field. A post sees about 12 m, so it is not meant to guard a whole field edge; the flash itself is visible much further.
No. The post talks directly to the RaidBell in your house over LoRa, with no gateway and no cloud.
