What it is

A small battery sensor that screws onto a motor or pump and spots developing faults.

What it does

  • Measures vibration, sound and temperature
  • Flags unusual machine behaviour
  • Suggests a likely fault type
  • Sends alerts through a shared gateway

Who it's for

Maintenance and reliability teams in factories, utilities and food and pharma plants.

The idea

A battery node on each motor, pump and fan that says when it stops and when its bearings start to wear

The problem today

A small plant learns a pump has tripped when the morning shift arrives, and a bearing has failed when the motor seizes. Machine-health services are quoted per machine with analysts, and basic vibration meters only give a number, not run hours or a trend anyone acts on.

With MotorPulse AI

A stud-mounted node on each machine checks every minute whether it runs and texts the shift lead when it stops off schedule. Once an hour it measures the bearing and warns weeks ahead when the trend gets worse, and the run hours drive maintenance by hours instead of the calendar.

  1. 1MotorPulse node on a booster pumpChecks each minute that the pump runs; when it trips off schedule at night the shift lead gets a text within the minute
  2. 2Node on the cooling-tower fan motorMeasures the bearing once an hour and warns weeks ahead when wear rises, so it is changed on a planned shutdown
  3. 3Node on the line gearboxCounts run hours and starts, so service is done by hours used, and flags machines left running over the weekend
  4. 4Gateway on the wallHears every node by long-range radio and sends to the app, or only to the plant's own server with no subscription
  5. 5Maintenance officeThe app lists stops, run hours and each machine's bearing trend in plain words, with the spectrum for the contractor
  6. 6Service contractor's vanThe contractor sees all their customer sites ranked by bearing trend and books visits and repairs from the data

What you see in the app

One screen for each job MotorPulse AI does.

  • Bearing wearOver three weeks, cooling water pump P-104 starts to wear inside. The bearing trend climbs from steady to plan a repair.

  • Run and stopA cooling fan trips on the night shift. The node feels it stop within a minute, and the maintenance phone shows when it happened.

  • Plant checkBefore the morning meeting the maintenance lead checks every motor on one screen. Each node shows its trend and battery.

App screens with sample data. The interface is in development.

    Lab updates for MotorPulse AI

    All lab updates
    1. LatestPlant managers and maintenance leads at plants with 10 to 60 motors, pumps and fans find out about a tripped pump at the next shift and a worn bearing when it seizes; machine-health services are quoted per machine with analysts and basic meters cost $186 to $455 a point plus a gateway (MotorPulse DESIGN.md market check).
      • Drawn idea plan (idea.json): a small plant from above with the pump room, the production line, the maintenance office, the cooling tower outside and the loading dock; pins for a node on a booster pump, a node on the cooling-tower fan motor, a node on the line gearbox, the gateway on the wall, the maintenance office and the service contractor's van
      • The product picture is now this drawn plan instead of the plain fallback card; drawn from the design notes, not the CAD
      • What the plan keeps from the market work: we say only that a bearing trend is getting worse than its own baseline, not a fault diagnosis, and a local mode with no subscription is offered
      • Next: more drawn plans for catalogue products that still show the fallback card (oxycart, paceroll), then close-out C5 (buyer review prep for sports) from 12:00

See it in 3DFull research and design

    2. A small plant wants to know, for each compressor or big machine, whether it is running, whether the motor bearings are wearing, how much air leaks while the plant is closed, whether a panel joint is getting hot and what the dials read. Today that is five separate kits, such as a $999 Flir vibration kit, the compressor maker's own portal (Atlas Copco SMARTLINK, its machines only) and a clipboard round.
      • Combined into PlantNode (https://iemilabs.com/products/plantnode/); MotorPulse itself is unchanged

    MotorPulse AI FAQ

    General FAQ
    What data leaves the sensor?

Only results and features: anomaly scores, fault-type suggestions, vibration bands, temperature and battery status. Raw vibration can be requested for analysis. Audio is turned into features on the node and is never sent or stored as sound.

Is MotorPulse certified or safety rated?

No. It is in development and holds no certifications. It is a condition-monitoring aid, not a machine-protection or safety system. It reports ISO 20816-style velocity bands but does not claim ISO 20816 compliance. It is not for hazardous (classified) areas; a hazardous-area SKU may follow later. FCC/CE, LoRaWAN and UN38.3 testing is planned.

    How is it installed?

Screw the node onto a stud fitted to the bearing housing, or bond a stud pad with epoxy. A magnet mount is available for trials. Pair it with the gateway in the app and tag the asset.

    What connectivity does it need?

Nodes connect to the MotorPulse gateway over BLE Long Range or LoRaWAN. The gateway connects to the dashboard over Wi-Fi, Ethernet or LTE-M. Analysis runs on the node, so alerts do not depend on a cloud model.

    Is MotorPulse AI available now?

No. It is in development and the specifications are targets. It is a concept: we are not taking orders, reservations or deposits, and it has no ship date yet.

What warranty will it come with?

We are planning a 2-year limited hardware warranty covering manufacturing defects. Final terms will be published before shipping begins.
