A handset with four keys replaces the nurse-call cord. Each press says why help is needed, and a held key records a short voice note.

What it is

A replacement nurse-call handset that plugs into the existing wall jack and adds a reason and voice note.

What it does

  • Calls the old way, unchanged
  • Sends the reason to the right carer
  • Shows residents 'Help is coming'
  • Reports a handset on the floor

Who it's for

US nursing homes and assisted living on older 1/4"-jack call systems.

What you see in the app

One screen for each job CallNote does.

  • Reason callAt 02:40 the resident in Room 7 holds TOILET and says she needs to go now. The dome light still comes on as before.

  • Pain escalationRoom 12 presses PAIN, and the call goes straight to the nurse with the voice note. If nobody accepts in 5 minutes, the nurse in charge is told.

  • Handset droppedA handset slips off the bed rail at night. The handset feels the fall, and the aide is told to put it back before it is needed.

  • Response timesIn the morning the director of nursing sees how fast calls were answered overnight, by reason and shift, for the whole unit.

App screens with sample data. The interface is in development.

    Lab updates for CallNote

    All lab updates
    1. LatestA care home or ward needs one thing at each bed that calls a resident getting up before they stand, someone on the floor and what a call is for, and fills the turn, fluid and hand-rub records, without a camera in a private room. CQC asks for the least intrusive option, a bed-exit signal is a Class I exempt bed-patient monitor (21 CFR 880.2400), and homes pay about $240 a room + $19.99 a month for a wall radar (Vayyar) on top of mats and call bells.

    3. A call light says someone needs something, not what (toileting is the top reason) → 4 reason keys route TOILET and DRINK to aides and PAIN to the nurse, saving 1.0-2.2 staff-hours a day per 30 beds (CAD route report, est.)

    CallNote FAQ

    General FAQ
    Is CallNote available?

No. CallNote is a concept in the in-house design and testing stage. It has not been built or tested on a real call system, and it has no ship date yet.

Does it replace our nurse-call system?

No. Every key still closes the existing call loop through a plain switch, so the dome light, station and tone work as before. CallNote only adds information, and it makes no safety or fall-prevention claim.

Will it work with our system?

It is designed for older 2-wire systems with a 1/4" jack, and 8-pin DIN systems with an adapter. Not every 1/4" system is a simple contact, and some buyers require UL 1069-listed components, so compatibility must be checked first.

    Where do voice notes go?

Voice notes stay on the on-site Edge Hub on the facility network and are deleted after 24 hours. The cloud only receives call counts and device health.

What if the battery is flat or Wi-Fi is down?

The call still goes through the old way, because the loop switch does not depend on the electronics. You lose the reason, voice note and 'Help is coming' until it is charged or reconnected.
