    The whole PoolGuard

A pod on the pool gate measures every close with a motion sensor and magnet gauge, and alerts your phone if it did not latch.

7 key parts, one program, and your phone

What it is

Battery sensors for the pool gate and fence that tell a family when the gate did not close or something climbable has been left against the fence, with an overhead camera add-on for commercial pools.

What it does

  • Checks every gate close
  • Warns when hinge springs weaken
  • Photographs the 900 mm strip outside the fence
  • Alerts on new objects left by the fence

Who it's for

Leisure centres, schools, hotels, resorts and residential compounds with pools.

What you see in the app

One screen for each job PoolGuard does.

  • Gate latchA child runs back inside and lets the pool gate swing shut. It hits the latch too fast and bounces open, and the phone chirps.

  • Spring healthOver months the hinge springs lose tension and the gate closes more slowly. The weekly trend says to adjust them before it stalls.

  • Fence stripA chair has been left against the outside of the pool fence. The fence camera sees it stay there and sends a photo.

App screens with sample data. The interface is in development.

    Lab updates for PoolGuard

    All lab updates
    1. LatestOne product for the home pool (owner decision, 27 Oct 2026).
      • Its jobs now run in PoolOne, the smart pool gate: /products/poolone/

See it in 3DFull research and design

    2. A family with a backyard pool needs three things checked that they now check by eye: that the self-closing gate really shut, that nothing climbable is left against the fence, and that the pump pad is dry. A dripping pump seal wets the motor bearings and shortens the motor's life, and the leak often drips down unseen (VEVOR pool pump guide); faulty gates and climbable objects are the top pool barrier faults (Royal Life Saving WA). Our own two products for this cost $398 with two apps.
      • Combined into PoolDeck (https://iemilabs.com/products/pooldeck/); PoolGuard itself is unchanged

See it in 3DFull research and design

    3. Families with a backyard pool need to know when something a child could climb, such as a chair, pot plant, esky or toy, has been left in the 900 mm strip outside the pool fence. Royal Life Saving WA lists climbable objects as one of the most common reasons pools fail inspection, and Auckland Council found 25% of pools failed their first inspection, with planters and furniture near the fence among the causes.
      • New CAD parts: ClearZone camera case, lid and a 12° post wedge that aims the camera along the fence and out over the strip; 6 of 6 fit checks pass
      • Hardware: XIAO ESP32S3 Sense camera board, buck-boost and 2 AA lithium cells; about $39 per pod at qty 1 (est.)
      • Software: a "clear" reference photo, a marked 900 mm strip, 6 checks a day, people and pets ignored, alert with a photo when a new object stays 20 minutes
      • Design doc: dated section with 7 sources, a view and pixel check, a battery estimate and 5 new tests
      • Product page: renamed PoolGuard, new tagline, summary, problem, highlights, family use cases and 3 new FAQs; prices $69 per pod and $199 Fence Kit

See it in 3DFull research and design

    4. Rev B: the camera kit was an attachment next to the barrier → the gate itself now reports every close, on any latch brand, with nothing opened or modified
      • Upgraded design: 13 printed parts in code CAD, bought parts fit-checked
      • Market research, hardware list and use case written up
      • Design page and kit render published
      • Product page added

See it in 3DFull research and design

    PoolGuard FAQ

    General FAQ
    What does ClearZone actually check?

At setup you take a photo of the fence with the strip clear and mark the 900 mm strip outside it in the app. Six times a day the pod takes a new photo and compares the strip. If something new is still there 20 minutes later, such as a chair, pot plant, esky or toy, you get the photo with the object boxed. People and pets walking past are ignored.

Does ClearZone make my pool fence compliant?

No. It does not judge compliance and it is not a barrier, a pool alarm or drowning prevention. It tells you that something new is standing in the strip you asked it to watch. Your fence, gate and adult supervision stay the protection, and your local inspector decides compliance.

Will the camera look into my neighbour’s yard?

It looks along your side of the fence, and everything outside the strip you mark is masked out. Photos stay in your account.

    Does PoolGuard replace lifeguards?

No. PoolGuard is a lifeguard aid. It does not replace lifeguards, supervision or your pool safety operating procedures, and it cannot detect every incident. Pilots always run with lifeguards on duty.

Does PoolGuard use face recognition or send video to the cloud?

No. There is no face recognition and swimmers are not identified. Video is processed on the on-site hub. Only alert clips are kept, for a configurable period, and they stay on site unless you choose to export them.

    How is it installed?

Camera units mount high on walls or poles around the pool on stainless brackets, with PoE cabling to the hub. Nothing is installed underwater. A typical 25 m pool takes one to two days.

    What connectivity does it need?

Alerts to wristbands and the office work entirely on site. Ethernet or Wi-Fi is needed for the remote dashboard and software updates.

    Is PoolGuard available now?

No. PoolGuard is a concept in development and nothing is built yet. Specifications are targets. We are not taking orders, reservations or deposits, and it has no ship date yet.

What warranty will it come with?

We are planning a 2-year limited hardware warranty covering manufacturing defects, with advance replacement for subscription customers. Final terms will be published before shipping begins.
