What it is

A cricket kit with one brain per crease that does a club ground's match evidence, counts, over-rate and nets jobs.

What it does

  • Films the crease and buzzes the umpire on a front-foot no-ball
  • Times bail-off in wooden stumps and measures the run-out gap
  • Counts overs, junior spells and the over-rate on a big clock
  • Holds the bowling machine's length in the nets

Who it's for

Cricket clubs with a league side and a junior section with nets.

What you see in the app

One screen for each job Cricket MatchKit does.

  • Run-out reviewA batter dives for a second run as the bails come off. The umpire opens the review and sees where the bat was at that exact moment.

  • Front-foot callsThe mast checks every front foot. When no part is behind the popping crease, the bowler's-end umpire's band buzzes before the next ball.

  • Over-rate and spellsThe umpire band counts balls and overs. Big digits under the mast show how far behind the rate the side is, and junior spells are tracked.

  • Nets lengthOn nets night the mast stands behind the bowling machine. It measures each ball's length and turns the machine's knob to hold what the coach set.

App screens with sample data. The interface is in development.

    Lab updates for Cricket MatchKit

    All lab updates
    1. LatestCricket clubs need one product for the ground, not several kits and apps.

    2. A club with a league side and junior nets wants run-out and front-foot evidence for a lone umpire, an over-rate clock, junior spell limits and a smarter bowling machine. Today that is five separate kits, or a nets system from about GBP 2,200 (PitchVision) and sponsor-funded LED wickets (Wisden on Zing).
      • New product Cricket MatchKit: one Raspberry Pi 5 per mast does the jobs of CreaseCam, SmartStump Pro's link and band, LengthLock and PitchTally's OverRate and SpellCount
      • New CAD parts: mast case (Pi 5, camera, stump radio dongle, card reader behind a TAP spot) and lid with visor, over-rate clock face and back on the same stand, umpire band pod, lid and TPU keys; LengthLock's DialDrive reused unchanged; every bought part fits and each part is one solid
      • 3D view: the mast on its light stand at the boundary with the clock below, the wooden wicket, an umpire's forearm with the band and the bowling machine with the DialDrive
      • Dropped: LengthLock's second Pi and camera, three wrist units (pager, counter band, SpellCount Tally), the PaceFace's own chip and battery, the NetKey pod

    Cricket MatchKit FAQ

    General FAQ
Which products does Cricket MatchKit replace?

It does the job of CreaseCam (crease camera, front-foot buzz and run-out evidence), SmartStump Pro (wooden stumps that time bail-off), LengthLock (bowling-machine length control in the nets) and PitchTally's OverRate and SpellCount kits (over-rate clock and junior spells). Bought separately those are $3,705; MatchKit is $2,799.

    Does the umpire still decide?

Yes. The kit buzzes, counts and shows evidence; every decision stays with the umpire, and in League Mode only umpires can open a review.

    Are the stumps still wooden?

Yes. They are SmartStump Pro ash stumps and bails with the sensors inside the wood. MatchKit only listens to them by radio.

Can juniors use the bowling machine?

The DialDrive only moves after an adult coach taps a coach card on the mast, and each batter card carries a coach-set speed ceiling. The machine stays under adult control.

    Is Cricket MatchKit available now?

No. It is a concept in design. Specifications are targets. We are not taking orders, reservations or deposits, and it has no ship date yet.
