8 key parts, one program, and your phone

What it is

A post beside each business door with one camera that does four door jobs, run by one Edge Hub per site.

What it does

  • Rings staff phones for visitors and drivers and releases the door
  • Warns about doors left open and closes them safely
  • Keeps trailer photos, pallet stills and dwell times at the dock
  • Reminds people about PPE with a light and a voice

Who it's for

Small warehouses, 3PLs, distributors and light-industrial units with a front door and 2–8 dock or bay doors.

How the parts connect

Every part, what links it to the brain, and how the data reaches your phone. A solid line is a cable; a dashed line is a radio link.

iPhone, Android, desk tablet or browser

  1. Door posts
  2. Edge Hub
  3. Staff phones and desk tablet
  4. IEMI cloud for remote phones

What you see in the app

One screen for each job DoorPost does.

  • Visitor bellA driver presses the button at dock 1. Every staff phone rings with live video, and whoever answers can talk and release the door.

  • Bay door openAt 18:24 bay 3 is still open and nobody is inside. The manager can close it after the post checks the bay is clear.

  • Dock evidenceWhen the dock door rises, the post photographs the untouched trailer, then each pallet, and starts the dwell clock for detention claims.

  • PPE reminderA worker walks up to dock 1 without a hard hat. The light bar turns red and the speaker asks for one. Counts stay anonymous.

App screens with sample data. The interface is in development.

    Lab updates for DoorPost

    All lab updates
    1. LatestA warehouse needs one thing at each dock door that warns when the edge is open or a trailer creeps or pulls away with a forklift inside, and counts every pallet with a photo. About 33,000 US workers missed work after dock, dock-plate and ramp injuries from 2015 to 2020 and 49 died (BLS, via HSE Blog), and OSHA 1910.178(k)(1) requires the truck to be held while forklifts board it.

    2. Small warehouses and 3PLs need someone to answer the door and the truck drivers, notice bay doors left open, keep photo evidence of every load against shortages and detention, and remind people about PPE. Today that is a business intercom (Verkada about $1,599 + $249 a year), dock software from vendors such as Coram or Lexmark, and a supervisor repeating the rules.
      • New product DoorPost: one post per door and one Edge Hub (Raspberry Pi 5 + Hailo-8) per site do the jobs of EdgeBell, GarageEye, LoadingDock AI and PPE Gate
      • New CAD parts: the post (back and front with camera window, radar window, speaker grille, call button, QR label and light-bar slot), a light-bar diffuser, a 30-degree wall wedge so the camera sees across the door into the trailer, and an indoor door node (base and lid) for the strike release and the door close; LoadingDock's contact block and GarageEye's door target reused; every bought part fits and each part is one solid
      • 3D view: dock door 1 of a small warehouse, the post beside the half-open door, the node under the door operator, a trailer with pallets and a worker in a hard hat walking up
      • Dropped: PPE Gate's bought camera and tower controller, LoadingDock's camera arm and big button, GarageEye's 4-door camera, EdgeBell's home doorbell mode
      • Product page: $449 + $99 a month per door and a $595 Edge Hub per site, against $1,542 + $278 a month per door for the four products bought separately; parts about $125 per door (est.)

    DoorPost FAQ

    General FAQ
    Which products does DoorPost replace?

It does the job of EdgeBell (visitor bell, talk and door release), GarageEye (door left open and safe close), LoadingDock AI (trailer photo, pallet stills, dwell clock) and PPE Gate (light and spoken PPE reminder) at one door. Those cost $1,542 + $278 a month together per door; DoorPost is $449 + $99 a month plus a $595 Edge Hub per site.

Does the PPE light stop people from entering?

No. It is a reminder only, never an interlock. Amber means it could not check. Nobody is named and no clip is kept for PPE.

Can someone open the door by prying the post off?

No. The release and close relays live only in the indoor node, which acts only on signed commands from the hub. The post has a tamper switch.

    Is remote close safe?

It only closes, never opens, and only when the camera and radar see the bay clear, after a 10 second strobe. The door operator's own safety edges and photo-eyes stay in charge.

    Does it record faces?

There is no face recognition. Video stays on the hub on site; only events and the dock stills you choose leave it.

    Is DoorPost available now?

No. It is a concept in design. Specifications are targets. We are not taking orders, reservations or deposits, and it has no ship date yet.
