GarageOne
IEMI's one product for the front door and garage: the garage door opener itself, made smart, so it closes a door left open, refuses an unsafe close and watches the garage, in one home app
The ceiling-mounted garage door opener the home already has, at the same head size, rail, straps, safety eyes, wall control and remotes, watches the door, the doorway, both bays and the driveway with a wide camera in its door end, the water heater with a heat camera in its back end, and listens with a mic beside a temperature sensor; it closes a door left open after the legal 5 s light and sound warning, refuses a remote close with something in the doorway, calls a car engine left running, someone inside while the family is away, a freezing garage with the door open, the home's smoke or CO alarm and a wet heater pan, shows each call on the head with a light and a tone, and keeps a signed door log.
- Who buys it
- Families with an attached garage (US first), garage door installers as the channel, and later home builders who fit the opener at handover.
- Why it pays
- $499 + $2/month (fitting extra) instead of about $597 for an opener with a camera in the head (Chamberlain B4643T, about $369, video storage $3.99-9.99 a month), our GarageHome hub ($189, which already folded GarageEye AI, EdgeBell AI at the side door and TankWatch) and AlarmEcho ($39), with a ceiling hub, a side-door station, heater probes and three apps.
- Target price
- $499 per smart opener + $2/month family alerts and the signed door log (target; fitting by the garage door installer extra)
- First-minute wow
- At 22:30 the big door is still open from the bikes. The opener checks the doorway is clear, flashes and sounds for 5 s and closes it. Next morning a car is left running in the closed garage: after 2 minutes the head turns red with a fast tone and every family phone says so.

What the research found
And how this design answers it
- Rev A (28 Oct 2026): the front door and garage flagship is the garage door opener itself. Everything sits inside the 300 x 460 x 180 head: Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W brain, Camera Module 3 Wide door camera, MLX90640 heat camera, MAX9814 mic, SHT45, call lights, tone, ATECC608, tamper switch, IRM-10-5 and a backup cell
- Makes the garage's calls itself: door left open (closes it after the UL 325 warning), remote close refused, car and engine running, someone inside, freezing, smoke or CO alarm heard; wet heater pan and parcels assist; unsure means unsure and never moves the door
- Folds GarageHome (ceiling hub, side-door station, heater probes) and GarageEye AI (ceiling camera box): their garage jobs now run in the opener
- Gaps listed: the front-door doorbell (EdgeBell AI stays listed), side and house doors, alarms in other rooms (AlarmEcho stays listed), heater shut-off, leaks elsewhere
- Stage 2 (28 Oct 2026): buyer check (Chamberlain camera openers about $369 with $3.99-9.99/mo storage, Tailwind iQ3 $60-94), price $499 + $2/mo with fitting extra, parts $356 at qty 1 (prices checked), 10 W IRM-10-5 supply in the same case, power-cut time corrected to about 8 h, top-three FAQs
Use case
A family garage on a school night
ParentsTeenagersInsurer
- 01Trigger: bikes put away, the big door left open, a car warmed up in the morning
- 02Detect: the door camera sees the door, the doorway and the cars; the mic hears an engine or an alarm; the heat camera watches the heater
- 03Act: a door left open is closed after the 5 s warning with the doorway clear; an engine in a closed garage turns the head red with a tone, then every phone
- 04Log: signed door moves and calls in the app
Outcome: The door is never left open overnight, a remote close never lands on a bike or a child, and a car left running is called in two minutes
How it works
Architecture
- 01
Sense: door camera and heat camera in the head ends, mic and temperature behind the side vents, the opener's own door position
- 02
Decide: the Pi Zero 2 W runs the door, doorway, car, engine, person, freezing and alarm calls; unsure below the line
- 03
Show: call lights and tone on the head; the UL 325 warning before every remote close
- 04
Tell: signed calls over Wi-Fi to the family app

Open risks we are working on
- A clear doorway from one ceiling camera is untested on bikes, toys and pets at night; it only adds to the photo eyes and reversal, never replaces them (tests G-T1)
- The opener maker must re-list the opener under UL 325 with our parts inside; we design with an opener OEM
- A heat picture sees a wet pan only when the water differs from the room; that call assists (test G-T3)
- Chamberlain and LiftMaster sell openers with a camera already; our edge is the calls it makes itself, the refused unsafe close and the signed log
- Not a smoke or CO alarm or a security system: it hears the home's alarms and alerts
