Overview
SmartGoal embeds four 4K global-shutter cameras, impact sensors and an edge AI processor inside a standard 100 mm goal frame. It detects goal-line crossings, tracks the ball and players for offside support, and alerts the referee's tablet in under 150 ms — with no change to the goal's external dimensions.
The problem
Goal-line technology and video review exist at the elite level but are far out of reach for academies, colleges, semi-pro leagues and community facilities. Disputed goals, offside arguments and the absence of replays undermine fairness and slow development. Venues also have no simple way to capture match footage for coaching.
Confirm whether the whole ball crossed the line and buzz the referee's tablet or wristband instantly.
Track the ball and players in the final third to give assistant referees an objective offside indicator and replay.
Record every match automatically from the goal's perspective for coaching reviews and player development.
Measure shot location, speed and keeper reactions for training sessions.
Stream live goal-cam feeds and instant replays for parents, fans and local broadcasts.
Four flush-mounted cameras in the crossbar and posts capture the goalmouth and field at up to 4K, synchronised to the microsecond.
On-device models detect and track the ball and players in 3D across the overlapping camera views.
Goal-line crossing and offside-position logic runs on the Jetson Orin Nano and triggers an alert in under 150 ms.
An instant multi-angle replay with a decision overlay is sent to the referee tablet over 5G Wi-Fi 6E.
Match video, goals and analytics sync to the IEMI dashboard for coaches, clubs and broadcasters.
In the app
The IEMI referee app delivers goal and offside alerts with multi-angle replays; the club dashboard stores matches, highlights and analytics.
Ball fully over line by 4.1 cm
Attacker 38 cm beyond last defender
Ball 6 cm short of full crossing
Left post struck, 54 km/h
Runs on-device · NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano
Detects the ball under occlusion and triangulates its position across four views.
Model: YOLO11-s + multi-view triangulation + Kalman filter
Determines whether the entire ball has crossed the goal line using calibrated geometry.
Model: Geometric decision engine on tracked 3D ball position
Detects players, estimates keypoints and builds a virtual offside line at the moment of the pass.
Model: RT-DETR + RTMPose
Classifies post and crossbar strikes from vibration signatures.
Model: 1D-CNN on IMU / piezo signals
Automatically clips goals, saves and near misses.
Model: Event classifier over tracking data
Targets for production units. Subject to change during development.
